I have a '94 Z28...the stereo system that I have in there now worked OK with my previous setup, but my new engine drowns out the radio altogether. What I have now: Pioneer head unit, MOSFET 45, forget the model number...5 1/4" Pioneer 2 ways up front, 6 1/2" Pioneer 2 ways in back.

What I'm thinking...the head unit I have has a separate output for a sub with a built-in crossover. Most of what I can't hear now is bass, but I can't turn it up any farther without distortion. I think that if I buy a sub and a small amp, I can set the crossover on the head unit to keep the front speakers from playing bass at all and I can turn them up farther without any distortion.

So, I guess I'm looking for a sub and an amp. Question is, what would you recommend? I'm not looking for a high dollar system and I don't want something powerful enough to rattle my doors off. All I need is something that will overpower the exhaust enough to be audible. If I could get everything I need for under $400, I'd be very, very happy. Also, I'd like to use one of those Stealth boxes that installs on the driver's side to keep what little trunk space I have open. Final question...who are the cheapest suppliers out there? It's been so long since I did anything with stereo equipment that I don't know who the best company to order from is.

are you looking for bass or wanted to actually hear the music? why not get a 4ch amp for your speakers
