Optima Yellow Top

I was just wondering if an Optima Yellow Top battery will fit under the hood of my 94 Z28.

Thanks

I have one, I don't know how I feel about it. They cost about $100 more than a normal battery. I don't see a difference and a cheap battery worked for me all the time, so I don't see what the big deal about them are. It hasn't let me down yet, but I guess I just don't need whatever it offers.

In my personal opinion Optima batteries are the biggest wastes of money in car audio.

Re: Optima Yellow Top

I have one. No clearance issues for me. I like it because of it's reserve capacity. I can listen to it cranked up for an hour or two without worrying about draining it dead and ruining it. A stock battery certainly cannot do that.
My current yellow top has been in two cars and is now 7 years old. Twice I have drained it dead. Once was due to leaving a dome light on and the other was when my car was broke into, the hatch was left open for whoe knows how long before I discovered it. But a simple jump start put it back into commission both times. I'm not saying it's as strong as it used to be. In fact it's getting old and needs replaced. But how many batteries are abused like that and last 7 years?
I always had battery trouble before I got it. Seems like if you run a stock battery down, they just don't seem to charge back fully. I dunno. As long as I have a system in my car, my battery will be a yellow top. My experience has just sold me on them.

I agree with megabass.....Maybe some of you guys don't care about leaving your sounds on with the engine off, but I occassionally do this while waiting to pickup friends, etc. It only costs $150, fits perfect, and you can bet that you won't have a problem starting your car, even if you sit around and listen to music for an hour or two.

Where did you get yours for $150.

I got a red top for $150, and I dont have a capacitor anymore, so I would like to put it in the back and a yellow top under the hood.

Thanks

Cameron

I bought the red top at Pep Boys for roughly $80. I had an online coupon through GNC gold card for $50( ) off.
