No sound on Pioneer Deck
Hello,
I was wondering if there is any way to check the amplifier portion of the deck and see if it's working. I put a deck into my parents car and it was working for the past year. The other day she complained the CD wouldn't work. I went out ejected the disc and the radio worked, put in one of my discs and no problem. I clean her CD pop it in and no problem
She comes home today and says she has no sound. I disconnect all the speaker wires and hook up a good speaker to check it out and no sound, so it's not the speakers and the deck doesn't smell fried.... Any ideas or things to check? The deck seems to operate fine otherwise. Its a Pioneer DEH-1500 50x4.
Thanks

Never mind..... Upon closer inspection under better light it seems that her car has a water leak and it has corroded the connection on the board from the back of the amplifier and corroded the connector a bit....
Any idea what Pioneer will do to help me out? Would it be worth having it repaired or would it just be cheaper to save the labour and buy a new deck? The deck is only 8 months old and the car it's in is only driven in the summer. We had bad rain the other day when she had the car out and it must've cooked the deck....
Thanks

the 1500 deck honestly isnt worth fixing that model has since been replaced by the 1600 model. The 1500 model is only worth about 75 bucks. the 1600 sells for like 99.00 the only difference between them is the 1600 has the new face plate design.

Wow, I thought the we payed more in the $150+ range for that deck... I could be mistaken though. My parents took it in and the stereo place said they'd warranty it since it was purchased in August. I have my doubts, once they open it up and find the water damage. I'd have to think we're going to be in the $50 range to have it repaired. It's just a shame b/c the deck has hardly any use on it as the car is only summer driven, say 2 - 3 months at most.
Thanks for the info
