Hissing from speakers
Hissing from speakers
I have an aftermarket Pioneer CD player and the original system is BOSE. I did not do the install or know where it was done. But the hiss stays at a constant level whether the sound is up or not. Can I get rid of it? I like the Pioneer and dont want to go back to stock. Thanks all!
Is the hiss present when listening to the radio and/or a CD? Does the pitch change as you rev your car? Is it coming from all the speakers? I recommend unscrewing the CD player from the dash, but DON'T unhook any of the wires yet. Cover up any RCA outputs and make sure no bare wires are touching the chassis or are too near to power wires. Try narrowing down the symptoms of the hiss, and try swapping out the CD player with someone else's if they can let you borrow theirs for a few hours. I understand that little problems like this can be the most annoying ones, so good luck and hope you get this all figured out!
You may want to check if there is an adapter module for the Pioneer to Bose system interface. I had the same problem with my Pioneer headunit and Bose system. When I bought the unit from Crutchfield, I had to purchase the interface module to work with the existing Bose speakers. The module had adjustment screws for the gains on each speaker. After I checked for loose wires, bad grounds, etc, I adjusted the gains until the hissing was gone.
No kidding I didnt know they made this. Circuit City told me it all had to be rewired! http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KYBkpLF...n/viewcart.asp
