No power to new head unit...?

I just installed a pioneer DEH-P3700MP and it has no power. I got the cd player from someone who had it in a saturn for 1 month. The only thing i can think of is that there might be a different connector that goes into the back of the cd player itself. I don't know though. I spliced my camaro connector to what was there. Any suggestions? The ignition wire is attached. I left the other connecter in the stock radio unplugged. I believe that is the steering wheel controls.

Alan

***Edit; It was the "ON" button*** I hope I don't make that mistake again

The steering wheel controls are a single wire that is part of the factory HU's main wiring haness. The other flat connector is for the factory changer controls. I would say that you wired your new HU wrong. It's either that or because it's a Pioneer. I've been involved with car audio for over 30 years now and in that time I've learned that I wouldn't own a Pioneer if you gave it to me.

i agree, take the pioneer, and use it as a wheel block. But if its what you got, you wired it wrong. let someone do it for you, pay the 40 bucks, and a lot of head ache.

Re: No power to new head unit...?

i have a premier 940 and its AWESOME!!! clean and clear. best deck i've ever owned, and i've had excelon, alpine, clarion (pro)...etc. pioneer is just fine, depending on what you want to do....like many parts for our rides...

On your problem dont cut into factory harnesses go get the proper harness that takes the place of your deck to eliminate any room for error. if you dont have any power, look to your switched power, if the car isn't sending the signal to tell your deck to turn on then thats y, also you can double check your power and see if its always on, then run a second wire to your deck as the remote to get it to turn on, this will leave the radio on and will drain your battery so use this only to test don't leave it like this if it works. run it right. i agree with the post above though if you don't know what your doing pay to have it done right. 40 is about what a retailer would charge for labor, beware if you cut your harness to bad then there will be a few extra parts involved with the cost.

good luck
