New Panasonic Shutting off Speakers???

I just put a brand new Panasonic stereo/ cd player in my T/A, I forget the model number though. When I turn the volume up to a certaion point while listening to the cd player, the speakers will suddenly quit playing, but the stereo will keep on playing the song, but you can't hear anything. If I turn it up to the same volume, or louder while listening to the stereo, it doesn't do it. Could it be overloading the amp? I am stumped. I also tried replacing the stereo with a new one, I did that today, and it still did it on the new stereo. Everything else is stock, except for the head unit.

What impedance are the speakers? If they are lower than 4 ohms your HU is probably going into protection mode by shutting down it's amplifier section.

Do you have the headunit wired to the Monsoon amp? If so, it might be overloading the amp.
If you have bypassed the amp and running the stock speakers off the headunit, then you are probably overloading the headunits amp.

Hi car is a '96 so I doubt that it's a Monsoon issue. He may have the Bose system though which has it's own problems when being used with after-market equipment.

Re: New Panasonic Shutting off Speakers???

I decided to tear into all of the wiring for the speakers today, and when I pulled off the door panels I saw aftermarket speakers. They are Infinity's, and are not hooked up to a bose amp like the ones were in my Camaro I used to own. There is a tweeter and a woofer and they run into that junction box, I forgot the real name, and then straight to the stereo. I started looking around and noticed the positive on the pass. side front tweeter was disconnected. I re-connected it, and it has not given me any problems yet. Maybe I lucked out and that was all it was. I will let everybody know what happens.
