Question Need suggestions on a $500.00 setup!

I want to add a little bass to the stock audio system. I am using an Eclipse CD5442 receiver,so I need to get your suggestion on sub(s),amp, box, etc. I was thinking about a stealth box. I am happy with the stock monsoon, but i would change out everything if needed.I have to keep it under 500.00. Less is even better. Thanks

Re: Need suggestions on a $500.00 setup!

This is what i did, and for the money its unbeilevable. Bought a mxa4002 mtx amp off ebay (refurbed, but worked perfect) 100 bucks to my door. So happy bought anohter 2 just to keep around, both worked great. Stereo direct is the seller, great seller at that. wired 2 infinty 12's (new series with grey face) got a real good price on sale at curcuit city 2 for 99, that was a insane price they had to price match from a local door crasher. but normally they are like 100 bucks each. And get the 3 yeat warrantee, even after 3 years, you can blow them on purpose, return them ( they wont have the same ones anymore and you will get the new stuff) Wired the subs together to put a 4 ohm load to the bridged amp ( put an under rated 200 rms to each sub). Built the box myself, to the 1.25 cft each sub thats required. Its angled and looks like a stealth box, and it sounds soooooooooo good, its unreal. SQ is all there, and SPL is over the top. This system is loud, no one can even handle sitting through it if its cranked up to about 60 percent of the amps max output. To injoy the bass, the amp sits at about 40%. A major part of this is the acoustics of the car. The subs 100% MUST BE BUT IN THE VERY BACK OR THE CAR IN THE WELL!!!! So if your not gonna build it yourself, get a steath box 100%. Set up cost me 250 bucks all together, and compared too 3 of my buddies systems, pricing from 1000-1500 bucks, they all amit, mines just as loud and sounds better!

Think that I'll just get a stealth box from subthump and pair it with an alpine type-s sub. Should I get the 1042d or the 1022d. Now what about an amp recommendation?

If you like alpine get the type S dual 4 ohm and pair it with thier 350 watt mono block MRP-M350. For something a little better get the same box reface it for a Kicker L7 8D4 and use a kicker 400.1. This will give you better bass for the same space. If you shop online you should be able to get it done for under $500.

Thanks for the amp info. That looks like it would be plenty for the dual 4ohm. I have found the sub around 100.00,the amp for 150.00,and the box is around 100.00. Well below the 500.00 mark. One more thing, should I get a cap. Thanks

I'll throw this in, I have a MTX thunderform and have for a few years now. It sounds great. I run it and the mids and highs off a 5 channel Audiobahn mounted on the rear deck it works out well for cars with t-tops.

You charging system will keep up don't waste money on the cap till you get ofver 1k watts. I run a kicker KX2500.1 off the stock charging system and it does fine.

I got a 10W3V2 JL sub in a stealthbox powered by a 300W Phoenix Gold XS series 2 channel amp... sounds awsome and are cheap on ebay nowadays. You can probably find the whole set up for about $400 and they're great quality brands.
