Need help (regarding new head units)

I have a 1994 Camaro V6, T-Top roof. Im looking to replace the stock stereo, as the current one sucks. Its the stock Bose system, with two front speakers, no speakers in the back, and a single in the trunk. Anyway, I was wondering if it would be possible to switch out the head unit without replacing the already existing speakers. Of course, these speakers will be replaced eventually as soon as I recieve the money, but in the time being, woudl i just be able to replace the head unit and still have the existing speakers? I hear if you want to replace Bose systems, you either have to get all Bose or take out the entire thing. Thats my biggest concern. Thanks

Although mine is a 95 and has the 4+sub, it should be the same. You just need to hook up the 'REM' turn on line so that it powers up your amps for the bose speakers. Worked in mine and others on here so it should work for you as well. They will all tell you that you need to buy an adapter or rewire with new speakers but thats bull.
