hi i put a new pioneer radio in my 96z28 and now my gauges dont light up i got the car on monday. so i dont know much about why it would do that but if some one knows why it does that it will be great. thanks.

 

Have you checked...

1) the dimmer control?

2) the fuse?

 

the switch worked fine right before i took the stock radio out and put the new radio in. after the new radio is put in doesnt work. i will have to check the fuse i hope its the fuse i just got the car dont want to see any major problems with it already.thanks

 

dimmer/ilu could be wired wrong...grounded out..

 

how can i wire up the dimmer wire correctly.

 

Did you buy a harness you did you hack it?

 

the previous owners must have wired something wrong

 

did you hook up the illu or dimmer?

 

so if its not hooked up it wont light up? i just got the car on monday so i dont know how these cars compare to my 87 gta. but what color would the wire be and were to i connect it too?

 

The colors should be the same as the old cars. GM hasnt changed in a LOOOOOONG time.

Dimmer is usually all orange. Illu is usually orange w/ white and should be the same comming from the radio.

Which radio did you purchase? Have you checked the fuses? Does everything else work?

 

its a Pioneer 8400,fuses good will have to double check.

 

Double check the connections and ALL fuses. Make sure nothing is touching. If all else fails, try the factory radio, or nothing (everything unplugged) and see what happens.
