Lights still flicker and battery gauge still dances after cap install

Well, it was worse before i got the cap in. But i have the system listed below in sig and added the 1.2 F cap and it controlled the battery level much better. But at night with the lights on and in drive while sitting at a red light playin music the battery level will get to alittle below half to the middle of half and the red. And the lights dim a bit when it hits. So what should i add, check, or what.
Thanks

Providing that your power and ground cables are of adequate size your next step is a high output alternator.

My stock alternator is 140A. I assume you have the same. Before you get a new alternator I would try upgrading the alternator and battery wiring to at least 4 gauge.

What gauge is your main power wire?

I'm not sure what year they changed but newer F-bods only have 105 amp alts. But that's their max output. At idle speeds the output is considerably lower than that.

I believe they changed to 105 in 98, that's what I've read.

Mine is 105amp too. And the idle output is something to look for when buying a H/O alt. Sure... it'll do 200amps.... but only at 3k RPM's..... at idle, 10 amps...... been there, wasted money.

Mine is a 1996 V6 and it has 105amp stock.
E-mail Dominick for a H/O alt. He offers some high output at idle alts. for a VERY nice price. E-mail him at dominick@tds.net Tell him the navy dude sent ya... he'll know who I am. Yes... also, it would be a good move to upgrade the output wire from your stock alt. to 4g.

V6 4th gens have always had a 105A alternator. It's the Z28s that changed to 105A in '98.

Just to double check, you are NOT running any fuses between the cap and the amp, are you? Fuses between the cap and amp decreases the effectiveness of the cap.
