Angry My amp throws sparks. Can it be fixed?

Ever since I tried to connect my capacitor, my VHC 2000 has acted like a cursed welder. If I try to connect it, the positive wire sparks like you test jumper cables for juice. I took the cover off and there's no visible burns or mooshed components. I connected it directly to the battery after busting through 6 80 amp fuses with the same results.

What's the problem? I barely got it at the beginning of this year

my guess is you have a loose connection somewhere, whether it be in the amp capacitor or wires. But if the power wire is sparking where it connects to the amp this is due to a loose connection on the terminal.

Unhook the fuse, take out the wires jiggle the terminal see if its solid then reconnect the + wire and make sure that is not loose in anyway, then reattach the fuse and see what happens now. If thats not working then do the same with the ground and see if your grounding wire is secure on both ends.

Good Luck!

The way I tested it last, was a cable from the positive of the amp to the positive of my battery, and the same with the ground, no cap was used. I didn't blow any amp fuses (it has 4 30 amp fuses), but I'll try removing them. Thanks for the help. Anyone else?

silly question but did you charge the cap before installing it. if you are busting 80 amp fuses I bet you forgot to do that. It is not normal to get a spark that big when installing a fully charged cap.

Yes, I used the small light bulb that came with the cap to make sure it was ready. Even when I connect my amp directly to my battery, the wires throw sparks.
