Question MTX 10 in. sub ?

well i have decided on putting a small system in my car. i am going to put one MTX 10 in. sub in a box that is t-top friendly. it is going to fit right where the optional 12 disc cd changer in the trunk would go. well anyways i was wondering if anybody has just a 10 in. sub in there car? if u could give me a rundown if ur happy with it or not. or if anybody else has any comments i would like to hear them. i just want to hear some bass coming from some where other than my monsoon system. im pretty sure that i am going to go with MTX, its gonna be a sub that support anywhere from 250-500 watts and i am going to provide a 2 ch. amp that will support the only sub with up to 325 watts. well for anybody that knows steros i would really apperciate some help on what i can expect from this setup or if i should change and go in a different direction. im not looking to blow out windows, just to have some nice sound when i have the windows down.

thanks for the help

A single 10" sub is ideal for an SQ installation. I'm using a 10" Alpine Type-S sub in my setup with 600 watts from an MTX 6500D powering it.

I just installed the MTX stealth box in my 94 using a Sherwood 250W amp. It hits HARD. Highly recommended.

I would not go with MTX subs. I have seen nothing but bad subs from that company ever since they got rid of the blue thunder series.

Don't tell me that crap. Maybe MTX makes a good cheap speaker but their so called high end series (Thunder 8000 Series subs) always seem to break down even if you put the exact right amount of power to the subs. Do yourself a favor and go with Kicker, Alpine, or some other brand. MTX makes good amps but their subs are second rate at best.

Agreed. MTX makes good amps, but their subs aren't the greatest. Theres probably a dozen brands I'd go with before I'd buy a mtx sub. JMO

I used to have a 10W3 in my Vantage Stealthbox with an MTX 6500D. I switched to the Alpine Type-S and it outperforms the JL sub in every way.
