Motorized antenna

So I need a retractable antenna since I use a car cover each night. I dont want to modify my cover to be able to cover the antenna, nor to have a hole to slip over it. Also not willing to have it shaved unless im planning on painting the car already.

I really dont listen to the radio and if it was with a toggle switch id probably never even lift it.
Oh ya.. my question.. I have a 94 Z28 Convertible and was looking at this one on Crutchfield http://www.crutchfield.com/S-j3L8Wvu...orized+antenna
However it looks kind of big and not sure if it will really fit, so has anyone had one of these installed into a convertible before?

Or by any chance would any of you know where I could find a retractable antenna that was not motorized, that I could simply push down to sit close to flat with the mount? I'm tired of looking at the ugly screw as I've had the actual antenna unscrewed for well over a year now.

The Firebird power antenna can be used on the Camaro. There's a how to somewhere on this site.

Thumbs up Re: Motorized antenna

I had same issue with car cover! I installed a factory delco antenna and it works great. You will need to run a power wire along with ant trigger wire. I used a cigerette lighter plug to plug into factory connector and used bracket for ground. Works great looks stock.power wire on back of radio is orange and used empty spot on back of radio for trigger wire. Also need to drill small hole for drain tube in bottom of wheel well in front of spare tire to connect to bottom of antenna.

Re: Motorized antenna

Crutchfield's site indicates that the power antenna you selected does not work with Camaros.

The Firebird power antenna should cost you about $100 new; you might be able to get a used one for less.
