ok got the doors hooked up just used one set of pos/neg wires and taped up the other one and they sound good
now im in the process of installing a new HU how do you get the "subs" wired in when there are only 4 sets of speaker wires on the new HU wiring harness?? in reading up on past posts it sounds like if i just use my install kit harness adapter and hook up the four sets of speaker wires everything should work on it own but that leaves the small plug from the factory unit untouched, what is that? the cd changer?

Your close but you have the door speakers hooked up wrong. This is a common mistake with these cars since you have 2 pairs of wires going to one door speaker. You did the logical thing.
The stock Monsoon doors have 4 wires because they one pair is for your tweeter and one pair is for the midbass. Even though they look like standard coaxial speakers they are wired like a component (seperate) set. You currently have just the stock midbass wires hooked up.
How you should do it is use the stock connector from your stock speaker. Cut it off the old stocker, hook the one pair of midbass wires to the midbass and the other pair of wires to the tweeter. You hook this to the tweeter by cutting the tweeter wires on the back of your Alpine speaker. The tweeter wires on your Alpines are the small black wires running up the back of the speaker and into the center of the magnet where there is a hole. They may be partially covered up by a sticker. The Type-S has these as well. Cut them as close to the pos. neg. connections as possible so you have a little length to play with. I know it is un-nerving to cut wires on your brand new speaker but that is the correct way to wire them. Make sure you only cut the wires going to the rear of the speaker. These are the ones you want to hook to the tweeter wires on your stock connector. This also allows you to plug them right into the stock harness with no splicing. The stock Monsoon system seperates your highs and low for you so no additional crossovers are necessary.
By doing this your speaker will get the high channel it is currently not getting. Good luck!
