stock 12 disc changer fix

The CDs in my stock 12 disc changer would go into the changer ok but once inside they would not shuffle or play and I had no error message. I searched here and couldn't find a fix. Luckily I had taken two years of electronics in high school and was able to apply that to the problem.

The Fix:
1. Unhook harness from back.

2. Take off the nut that holds the changer to the car bracket.

3. CRUCIAL STEP: Firmly hold changer with both hands so it does not drop. With the sliding door pointing to the sky, hit the unit against the ground with about 5 pounds of force. (Repeat with higher force as necessary or fun.)

4. Put CD changer back in bracket and reconnect wiring harness.

5. Enjoy music.

Step three is proven to work on all forms of electronics.

Just wanted to update... This method DOES NOT work for computer hard drives. Call me crazy but I think it's what broke my hard drive.

CD changer is still working though.
