Monsoon or not?

Im assuming that i do not have the monsoon system in my trans am, but do have the 10 speakers. Could you get one without the other? My CD player does not say monsoon on it like my brothers 02 ws6 does. I found some replacement woofers on ebay that are "monsoon". Would they plug in and work with no problems with my stock system if its not a monsoon system?

Re: Monsoon or not?

the monsoon subwoofers are dual voice coil and the non monsoon have a single voice coil. they would work, but only one voice coil would be operating so you wont quite get the full potential sound. not to mention, it will require a SLIGHT modification of the wires.

i did it the opposite way... i had monsoon woofers that were blown so i bought non monsoon woofers and hooked up the single voice coil on the non monsoons, leaving the wires that would have gone to the other monsoon woofer connected to nothing.

hope that wasnt too confusing. i can sell you my non monsoon woofers if you need them...they would work and sound much better.

email me at randall814@gmail.com if interested...as i wont check here too often.

Re: Monsoon or not?

There is a factory amplified system other than the Bose and POS Monsoon. If you have the Monsoon the amp is located above the right rear tire. If it is an amplfied, non-Bose system, the amp is located under the passenger side arm rest in back.

monsoon is 96+ fbodies. bose is only in camaros/z28s. delco is the basic stuff in the trans ams. if i remember correctly, the camaros and such didnt come with 10 speakers, only the trans am.

Re: Monsoon or not?

My Cd player actually sayd delco on it, so im just going to take a wild guess and assume that it is not monsoon. So i am going to need non monsoon woofers. Anyone got the part number or a link to where i could find some new ones. The only ones i found on ebay were monsoon.

Re: Monsoon or not?

I have a pair. They are the delco subwoofers. I'll take 50 bucks + shipping. There are people on ebay trying to squeeze 50 bucks for single Monsoon/etc. subwoofers and that is just crazy. No need to rip you off, hah.
