looking to put in a system for $600 or under...need ideas

i've got a '98 camaro with the 8-speaker monsoon system. i've already put in a pioneer 3800MP deck. i'd like to have everything in for $600 or less and i'm totally open to all ideas.

i could have friends do most of the work, but now i'm just looking for some help on what all exactly i need.

thanks.

Do you want a subwoofer?
Do you want rear speakers?
Do you want to run separate amplifiers?

Ya im looking into getting a system also. If you go up to circuit city they can actually have subwoofers built into your trunk so it looks nicer than just the boxes u buy. I dont know how much they cost but it what im gonna end up doing.

I also need some new speakers and they have the hundred $ 6 1/2 ones for buy one and get the next pair 50% off. Same with the compnent ones. Id recommended circuit city. good luck, post pics!

a 4 channel amp for $70 is going to be crap
a 1 channel sub amp for $70 is going to be crap
the MTX box/sub sounds like crap as well (IMO) sub thump is where to go, thats almost 150 buy itself with shipping, a decent sub is going to be close to $100 as well.

I would strongly disagree with you on that Very ignorant comment.
For $70 you can get a nice used MTX or RF from ebay in both 4 and 1 channel variants, you can check it. What is the "good" amps you are comparing to? I heard the sounds from a LOT of things on market, even know schematics beyond a lot of them, so I am ready for discussion Subthump stealth sounds no better then MTX; if you ask me - they are both on "economy" end of bass. They are not "hitting hard", just filling some bass space which is what a lot of people are looking for. More, putting a good money in hardcore SQ or SPL system in f-body is just plain stupid, sorry. But, I agree, that budget around $1000 will be optimal...

I have a MTX 6000 12" paid $30, got it from a friend. I got a cheap *** amp, rated 500 watts i think (prolly only pushes 200, u know how audio companies overrate everything), paid $60, got it from the internet. I got a box from a friend for $40. I have Kenwood 6.5 3 ways up front ($70 from local audio Co.) and Pioneer 6.5 2 ways in the back ($50 from best buy. Hooked all of it up to a JVC deck(thats my only complaint, shouldve got a pioneer).. I think the deck was $180. Overall sounds good enough for me. Im not winning any audio comps but the overall sound is good. Just enough bass to let everyone know ur their and def. enough highs for good clarity. If ur friends arent selling anything then hit up ebay and froogle. Good luck
