Angry Let me just say.....

I hate the factory Bose system. I wired in an aftermarket HU how Brent and Shawnster explained it in this thread:

http://web.camaross.com/bb/Forum4/HTML/006285.html

And I have the hissing and the poping, it's driving me crazy. I don't have money to have the whole system rewired so, I'm thinking about just putting the old HU back in. The reason I wanted an aftermarket HU is because the factory unit was only a tapedeck.

Did you use the PAC OEM-1 or a standard LOC to connect your HU?

No, I emailed PAC to get a price on it.

I don't know of anyone that has had any problems with hiss that used the OEM-1. The BOSE system doesn't use line level signals as mentioned in the other post. It's my understanding that it uses something between line level and speaker level signals. Maybe this has something to do with the problem you're having.

I know you just said you don't have the cash to have the car rewired, but it'd be the best way to reuse the stock bose speakers. When i got my 94 only my front two speakers were left in graciously by the first owner. I was able to wire it to where i had sound, not great sound, but it worked. I believe it ended up being mono, and your powerantenna lead on you HU should go to the relay that turns on the Individual Bose amps. This takes trial and error and frustration. But if i were you, i'd go out and buy some speaker wire and solderless terminals that fit the back of the speakers. Leave your power antenna wire on the HU insulated with black tape, don't hook it to anything. And wire one speaker at a time with the new wire. When you get into the doors, use a coat hanger to run the wire through the rubber grommet between the door and body. you'll need to take out some screws to remove the kick panel so you can see where the coat hanger comes through. When you take out the panel with the actual speaker in it, unhook the wire that hooks to the black "bose" box and just leave it hang in the door, or tape it down so it doesn't get in the way of things, run your new wire straight to the posts on the speaker. It's very simple, just time consuming. and speaker wire doesn't cost that much at all, it'll save you a huge headache and money if you just bypass those bose amp thingys. i talk to much

Here is the proper part to hook up a aftermarket head unit to the bose system.

Scosche FA1-1A-GM2

I have a new Alpine coming this week and will let you know how it comes out. They sells this at Crutchfield and I do not believe Cfield would sell stuff that left you with hissing and popping.
