Kicker 6.5

I just installed some Kicker 6.5 midbass in my 97 TA with Monsoon. Why do they not put out near as much sound as the factory speakers did? Do I have them hook up wrong? They had 4 connections on the back and the Kicker only have 2. I need some help bad. Thanks!!!

You my friend, have been Monsooned !

Seriously the though, the problem is you stock midbasses are dual 4 ohm voice coils and yours is a single. Try hooking up both positives to the positve on the speaker and the same for the negatives. May take some rewiring, but I'm sure you can do it. This will help with the sound a little, but replacing stock monsoon speakers with aftermarket ones never yeilds as good of results as expected, sorry.

Sorry, thought it might be worth a try. Best bet is to just leave one pluged in I guess. Or you can always start upgrading the stereo to fit your desires. Stereo doesn't HAVE to be giga expensive. There are quality products out there that are a great value. Post up if you want any suggestions or advice .

Just combining speaker wires coming from an amp is NEVER a good idea...I'm actually surprised you didn't damage the amp!

Kicker 6.5" mids need at least 30 watts RMS to function properly, and I actually send mine 50 watts RMS. The Monsoon amp isn't powerful enough to push them even if you did get a set of Kicker 2 ohm mids.

Check out the Monsoon FAQ's at the top of the Electronics Forum over at www.ls1.com for more information.
