Keep Bose or go aftermarket? other ?'s too. Please Help!
Keep Bose or go aftermarket? other ?'s too. Please Help!
Right now I have sound coming out of my front right speaker and the sub thing in the back. There is very little to no sound coming from the other 3 speakers. I am thinking it has something to do with the headunit but I dont know. Also why would more sound come from the hatch speaker than out of the other ones? Maybe its just messed up. I am comtemplating on trying to fix my Bose and keep that or get all new aftermarket stuff. Im guessing aftermarket would sound better. I have heard that you cant use and aftermarket headunit with bose factory speakers, is this correct? Also if i went aftermarket i plan on replacing all four normal speakers and just forgetting about the sub thing in the back for now and eventually throwing a real sub with amp back there. What would be some good choices for 6.5 or 6.75" speakers for the four others? I was thinking about some infinitys with a pioneer headunit. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help everyone.

ditch the bose. mine was the 3 speaker system and it sounded good but the cd player broke and it wasn't worth keeping. i replaced it with four 6.5's and a different head unit and it sounds much more complete now.

Thanks for your reply, anyone else have any input? I will more than likely just get a new head unit and speakers. Whats a good head unit to go with and speakers?

I just replaced my bose 5 speaker system with a pioneer head unit, kenwood components upfront and 6.5" 2 ways in teh rear. I'm running my components off of a 4 ch sub which I Will also use to power a sub. It sounds much, much better. I cant wait to get a box for my sub so i can install that too.
Definately ditch the bose. It sounds better than a lot of other cars stock sytems but doestn compare to a nice aftermarket system. The only downside to doing it is that youll have to rewire everything, but thats somethign that can easily be accomplished in a day's work.

Go with an all after-market setup. It's too much of a hassle to get the adapters needed to add on to the factory system whether it be BOSE or Monsoon. You'll get better sound and better reliability.
If money is a problem I would start with a good HU with all the features you want and a good set of components up front. When you shop for your HU get one that has all the features you want like MP3 capability, changer controls, crossover, etc. Don't worry about which one sounds the best. All the HU's that meet your features needs will all sound great once they're part of a complete system. Later on down the road you can add an amp and/or a sub or two when you have the cash. Then if you just have to have rear speakers you can them last. The other items are a lot more important than the rear speakers.
