JBL vs. Rockford Fosgate ... Need Help...

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on a couple of amps to supply power to my system...

I've had only one stereo system in my life...back in 1994...It consisted of a Fosgate Punch 150 and a Fosgate Punch 75...
I loved those amps...

But now I'll have one 10" sub in the rear (Alpine) and 2 ways in the Doors as well as Rear Fills...(next to the rear seats)...

I want a sub amp and a 4 channel... I've been thinking of the JBL 300.1 for the sub and the 80.4 for the other speakers... But I've seen similar Fosgate amps for about the same money...

How is Fosgate these days...are they as good as they were 10 years ago????

What do you all think?

Thanks,
TDog

Have you considered using a 2 channel amp for up front and using the HU's power to run the rear fill? That would be my recommendation.

I don't know anything about the latest from RF. JBL on the other hand seems to be making a name for itself here of late. Stop by the Forums at F-Body Audio and ask around about the JBL's there.

ive sold and installed both, i agree fosgate used to be good, now when i was selling recently we were getting approx one out of every 2-3 amps back under warranty, way over rated in my opinion, i run all jbl myself and it is way underated and bullet proof, in 2 years selling jbl i saw 2 amps come back, due to customer stupidy and one was used as a flotation device!! plus jbl is a over the counter warranty!! they r bulletproof

I personally own two of Rockford's amps and I'm telling you they are NOT what the used to be. No where near. And with these newer lines.... they look as though they are headed even further downhill. They do however, output rated power. The front heatsink might say 1600W.... but if you read the box, it clearly states 800WRMS@2ohms. Which it will do. If the JBL is the exact same price, I'd go with it.

The upcoming 2004 RF should be nice. My friend went to CES and looks like RF finally is pulling things back together. Amp looks much cleaner and definitely looks like they are worth a try. The subs isn't ricey like the current HE2's and all that junk.
