iPod car installation, 2 Ways of wiring in....

I just bought an ipod. i am going to just drill out the back of the cell phone cubby hole thing and run a wire to the ipod there. heres the question. i have a 1999 Panasonic HU. There are two ways i can go about this. It has RCA jacks for aux. input. it ALSO actually has a headphone jack INPUT. which would be better, a straight shot from the ipod earphone to the earphone input, or to an RCA splitter from the earphone wire? This will take like 10 minutes to do once i fiigure out which way to wire it to the HU.

You probably want to use the RCA AUX plug so you can switch between radio/cd/ipod.

Thats true, i never thought of it like that. would be nice to be able to change inputs, although i will mostly be using the ipod exclusively.
Thanks for the input.
