Inverted Sub.

What purpouse does mounting your subwoofer in the box inverted (upside down) serve?

My new HU has an option on the organic EL which allows you to tell it which way your sub is mounted in the box. I thought I might try flipping it depending on what it would do. It hits DAMN hard right now.

For looks. Or to save space (since you won't have the space your sub takes up subtracted from the volume of the box). Doesn't matter too much which way it's mounted.

fyre is right................it doesnt change anything...........its just for looks

however.........sometimes a sub creates annoying noises when inverse mounted............leadwires tapping cone, or wind noise from the magnet vents

usually not loud enough to hear though.

Fyre is correct. Most good quality drivers can be inverted, it depends on the suspension stiffness. Take a look at this: http://www.adireaudio.com/tech_paper...rientation.htm
