installing a line converter

I am installing a line converter to my subs in the rear sail panels. This is on a 99 TA with the monsoon system. I found a wire schematic but not sure which wires on the subs to splice into. There are four going into each speaker. Does anyone know which ones to use?

Re: installing a line converter

The speakers each have 4 wires because they are dual voice coil type speakers. Each voice coil has it's own set of wires. You can tap into either set (+ and -) since they are all receiving the same signal from the amp.

Re: installing a line converter

I forgot to mention that at the subwoofers are a bad place to tap into the signal. I'm told that the POS Monsoon amp attenuates the bass as you turn up the volume in a poor effort to protect the speakers. The best place to tap the signal is somewhere before the amp instead of after it.

Re: installing a line converter

would that be why the line converter isn't putting a signal out to my amp?
I tapped into the sub wires after the amp and I am not getting anything out of it. Also do you have to hook up all four of the inputs on the line converter it has 2 front and 2 rear and it has two separate RC outs one for front and one for the rear or will just to two rear work?

Re: installing a line converter

No. If the converter is hooked up correctly it should work fine. If you use the converters front inputs just be sure to use it's front outputs. You don't have to use all 4 inputs. Is there any kind of gain setting on the converter? Are you positive you've tapped into the right set of wires?

Re: installing a line converter

If the diagram is accurate you should be able to use any wire labeled as an input.

Re: installing a line converter

yep thats what I did I used the two rear inputs. I had it on the sub outputs and wasn't getting any signale from them. Switched to the inputs for the rears and money in the bank. Its done sounds good with no road noise or whining.
Thanks for your help LS1 RULZ
