? for the installers in here on 1968 Skylark(A-Body)
I see the helpful replies from the DIY and Pro installers here on F-Bod issues, so here's a request from a fellow DIY.
for low optioned car in sig. only has AC no power windows locks or seats. bench seat car
replacing stock AM unit and stock front and passenger side rear speaker set up with:
4" - Kenwood KFC 1079ie (2-way 2 speaker)
6"X9" - Kenwood KFC 6969ie (3 way 3 speaker)
headunit - Kenwood KDC 222
the 4" will be for stock front speaker bracket 4X10 single, I'll make it two.
will dremel driver side panel opening and metal bracket for second 6 X 9 and use existing passenger side opening.
will dremel stock bezel to fit modern style headunit.
?'s are:
1 - did you use speaker wiring that came with speakers or buy a different guage wiring (16?) and crimp end connections for + and -speaker connections.
did you run rear speaker wires through back seat along passenger side under carpet and door sill to behind kick panel and up behind stock location?
2 - where are you running headunit yellow (contant 12 V power source) wire to (another wire or fuse box - which fuse, BAT)
3 - where are you running headunit red (accessory/ACC ignition in ON position) power source wire to (another wire or fuse box - which fuse, ACC)
4 - where are you running headunit black ground wire to on chassis (firewall or dash frame screw)
5 - is a dash kit necessary for install
6 - is an antenna adapter required
want to do this with my son (his first car) on Sunday. Having a tough time finding an install kit locally. Have a few more installation places to hit on Saturday.
TIA
