Could I go with the box with a hole for the t-tops?
How do the Shiva's compare in loudness and quality...I'd imagine they are better quality, are they louder?

Yes, and the shivas are gonna play as loud or louder than the W3s. I think you'd like them a lot.

But Shivas vs 12W3s..Shivas are a tad better and maybe less expensive. But you will need my larger deeper box for them. If you get the JLs then you can get by with my standard box.
He is correct about the W6's. The Shiva and the W3's are VERY close. And I mean VERY. I would go with the Shiva's because they are a tad bit cheaper and not many people have them compared to the W3's. Everybody will think you are running flea market subs...... until you turn it on!!!

Cool. I've always listened and then bought. It's just a shame I can't listen to a pair before I get them. Should I go with ported or sealed box? I saw that a lot of the JL peeps had ported - i've only ever used sealed.

i would actually compare the sound of the Shivas more to the w6. they are botha bit warmer, fuller and deeper sounding than the w3 series. The w3 is a little punchier than the w6, and right on par with the Shiva. The Shiva actually has a slightly lower QTC (more sound quality oriented) in the same size enclosure. The looks are more plain, but i wouldn't consider that a drawback.

If you really need a smaller box sub i would look into the IDQ and the Type R. The Shiva is more efficient than either of these, but was designed to go in a bit bigger box. The IDQ and the Type R are great in a 1 cube box, where as the W3 and shiva both need about 1 1/3 cubes... but all are great subs. The Shiva is my overall pick, but there is NO bad choice.

Megabass - what how many cubes will I get with the t-top box?
You have any plans of changing the design to better hold the t-tops anytime soon?

Total box size is 2.4 cubes. And no I don't plan to modify or add to the box because doing so will increase costs.

I had 3 10"W6 JL Audio subs and i was putting only half the watts i need and i hit 146db in my TA. They use less air space so smaller box. Have duel voice coil and weigh about 22lbs each. Still have them sitting in the basement if you want them

I'm selling mine.
2 12" Shocker Mini Xtreams dual 4ohm (compititon subs)
1 Earthquake Shredder factory modded to 2500+ watts
20 feet of 4ga wire
250amp circuit breaker
1 pair of 20' RF whitewolf rca
1 pair of 20' lightning audio rca

I put up 147.4 Db in my old car with this set up. I havn't used the amp scence it has come back from the factory and the subs were beat on once (during testing) then never saw more than 150w for the next 3 months until I got tired of junk amp temperarily in place while Shredder was at the factory.

you'll need a beefed up alternator. if I don't sell this stuff I am going for 200amp minimum.

first grand takes the whole lot. will not spilt up.

Sounds to me like I need to get a pair of Shiva's then =)
Should I run them ported or sealed?
Cheapest place to get them through their website? Ebay doesn't have any listed so I'm guessing i'm going to have to go through the manufacturer.
Thanks,
Troy.

The owner of the company has a dealer list on the website, you can actually get it cheaper if you go through a dealer because the dealers sell for the same price shipped to your door as the cost before shipping direct through the company.

Amp specs?

Sweet - thanks for the link.
Question for you guys:
What are the amp specs I need to go with for the Shiva 12" subs? I noticed on Adire's page it says it has dual 8 ohm voice coils. I was planning on running a Lanzar Vibe amp or something in the same price range as one. I was thinking about the 1000 watt one. Can you give me the specs on an amp that would match up with 2 of these subs? 2 channel, 4 channel, what power, and so on...
thanks a ton,
Troy.

Two dual 8 ohms subs can give you a final load of 2 ohms. I would stick with a mono (1-channel) amp. The Shivas do not require a lot of power (300RMS I think) The cheapest amp that will give you the most power would be the JBL 600.1 You can get it off Ebay brand new for under $200 and it will give you nearly 700watts.

Just run each sub from that one channel. What would be the difference in running a 2 channel amp - 1 channel per sub?
So you suggest the JBL one huh..I might try that. Time for something new - Lanzar Vibe has been good to me though.
