I want a system for my 97 camaro
I want a system for my 97 camaro
My freind said it was dumb to have a system in a z28 because you want to hear the motor when you are driveing. But i think i still want one. I just need to find space. If you have a system where did you put it. I was thinking in the back trunk have it built in or something. I want to 12's will it fit?

Very nice man. You still have the spots for your t-tops. Im gonna have to do the same thing. You even have directions with how you did it. The speakers look good where they are placed. Sweet i might have to talk with you once i get mine f i h ave trouble. Looks really good!

IMO Camaros are not the type of cars you want to shake apart with copious amounts of bass.
BUT, Subthump boxes are the way to go. One 10" sub is great... This is coming from someone that previously had three 15"s in a Blazer.
It's just something you eventually get sick of. I still appreciate bass, which is why I always have a sub, but all the slam-slam-rattle-rattle-clunk is something that everyone grows out of at some point. And it's nice when your car stays solid and doesn't sound like a bag of loose bolts as you drive down the road.
One 10 or one 12 gets my vote.

I also think it is very stupid to put a "system" in a car that is built for performance and you end up putting alot of money into the performance part of it also, you want to hear and see what youve been putting your money into.
Also, prefab boxes like kick is talking about are always the worst way to go, not only are they contstructed like total junk most of the time, but every sub is different, needs more or less cubes, needs a different mounting depth, you cant buy the same made box for every sub, you should go to a local car audio store iny our area and tell them you want to have a custom box built for the sub(s) you have and close off the back storage well in your trunk

Im sure its quite a long list also...
You cant trust somebody thats trying to sell their product to tell you what subs preform best in their boexes, im sure its all of the higher most known brand named subs. No box is made specificly for a sub unless you made it yourself or had it made by someone who knows what their doing, and yes it makes that much of a difference.

Some of us prefer a nice mix between performance and quality of sound. And adding a sub greatly enhances the factory stereo in these cars. Some people actually have to sit in traffic in their car--and listening to better sounding music is a lot more enjoyable than the hiss and distortion of the factory one. Just like being able to burn rubber every now and then. It's just more enjoyable to do it. But to each his own, I would say.
As for boxes, ours are made specifically for these cars. To educate you a little, the corners in the hatch are very small so the box can only be made a certain way. You can't change the design on every box--especially for that kind of price. If you follow the guidelines on sub selection, you will have excellent results. And we know that from experience. That's what they are there for. For you to acheive the best sound. Most of the subs we recommend are very affordable (not always the most expensive) and work very well for their price. But if you tried to skimp with a cheap generice flea market sub, you'd probably have poor results and if you did that, you'd have no right to complain because you'd be going agianst our recommendation. nd if you ask, you will get the same answers as what is listed.
Customers come to us because they can get a box meant for a F-BODY and get it quickly and not have some dirty greasy guy messing with their car all day. Your average "audio" shop deals with a lot of different cars and does not have the experience with these cars like we do. And if you ask to have a box like this specially made it will be more difficult, time-consuming, and probably cost more in the long run. A lot of ppl don't like dealing with those places anyhow. Plus, we already have the pattern for that type of box, why try to re-invent the wheel? But if you want to deal with them, then that is your prerogative. If you went to such a place and had them make you a box, I would not call you stupid or anything like that. I would respect your decision. But I have heard too many horror stories from these types of places. In fact that is the main reason why subthump was started in the first place. Because the first box I had "custom made" for myself long ago from an "audio shop" was a piece of poop and I vowed I would do it better. Here we are 6 years later and I bet you can't find an f-body forum in the USA that somebody on there doesn't own one of our boxes. I think that's quite a feat, so I don't appreciate someone who doesn't have any experience with our business or products making false statements and generalizations.
Our customers come to us because we take care of them and give them a product that is worth recommending to others. If you wanted new exhaust for your car, would you go to your local Bill and Ed's muffler shop and have them weld you up a set of pipes? Let them torch and weld underneath your car for a week to get the things to fit? OR, would you shop around for a respectible place that's in business for that sort of thing like flowmaster, gmmg, etc etc. A place with a good reputation that already has a proven design that fits right and is made specifically for your car that you can just install without leaving your car overnight in some strange place as a daytime experiement. I would choose the latter. But that's just me.
