I-Pod hook up
Re: I-Pod hook up
Not sure if you're absolutely wanting to do it that way, but you could just buy the FM modulator things they sell for the ipods. It sends the song out over a radio frequency. Tune your radio that that station and you can hear the songs coming from your ipod.l
Re: I-Pod hook up
you can pickup the belkin I-Pod mini-jack to RCA connection to plug into your RCA input on the back of your deck, it will be alot better then using those RF modulators. All the customers i talk to that have used them said they suck.

Re: I-Pod hook up
Thanks for the response guys. My boss wanted me to hook his I-pod to his head unit and I just wanted to make sure that I could do it that way before I started the job.
Re: I-Pod hook up
you can also use an ICE-link (www.densionusa.com) and hace the ipod integrated with a cradle into the stereo. would also allow for charging and hu control buttons to work with the ipod.
Re: I-Pod hook up
i believe you can order it directly from them on the phone or over the internet.
It charges the ipod and transfers audio. as far as controls, you will have to load a playlist on the ipod itself (which can still be mounted wherever you want or tucked away in the glove box or center console. Then you can adjust track, play/pause (by switching sources) also turns the ipod off and fast forward and rewind. there are some other advanced controls for setting up volume level and such but those are the basic controls you would want to use.

Alpine has an adapter that will hook up a dockable iPod with any Ai-NET supported Alpine HU.
It says any "2004" Ai-NET...mine is a 2003 with Ai-NET and the model that replaced mine is no different except the model #.
Its only $99 for the adapter. Won't be out for another two weeks or so...I'll let you guys know how it works, if it even does.

Re: I-Pod hook up
It depends on the Sony deck, I had a customer that wanted to do the same thing but the audio input wouldnt work cause it seemed that the bus audio in would only work if the aux din cable was used to allow the deck to switch to aux, so he had to get the special cable that plugs into the cd changer port that gives you 2 rca's. Ive also installed that ICE link cable on a BMW and it worked really good, the guy said he paid 250 for the cable, but it was cool cause you controled the ipod through the deck and the deck displayed the mp3 title. All the customers that I talk to with the FM Mod's say they suck.
