How to remove plastic pins holding under dash panels in?

How to remove plastic pins holding under dash panels in?
I was putting some new speakers in my car yesterday and they panels under the dash have some plastic screw things holding it in. Do those just pop out or do you have to pull the center down then pull it out? I pryed on it a bit but it didn't come out, and I didn't want to break it so I just stopped.
