How determine which is faulty

The brake lights dim on the pssngr side...........it seems to be either the socket for the main brake light (3rd from the center), or the connections running into the socket, for some reason when I twist socket (there by twisting the wires some) it will provide power to the parking lights, it does it on command everytime sometimes it will turn off the bulb sometimes not, by wiggling the wires going in I can get the bulb to light back up though. I pulled all the wiring out of the loom for the brake lights, pulled it apart and it still did it when I twist or wiggle the wires to that one socket.....the parking lights, insturment cluster.....whole nine yards,it all lights up.....dimly, but it lights up. So how do I determin what is the actual culprit here? The socket or the wiring preceeding the socket right in front of it? Anyone have suggestions?
