how can I tell if an amp is good or bad???

i know this is in the other thread but this is the only problem i have left......

i have direct connect cables for alpine to GM have the "blue/white" cable clipped and used as remote for Eclipse 4 channel amp....the remote cable im using is a very thin one connected to a monster cable....as soon as the amp turns on 2 of the 4 20amp fuses blow and the amp turns off.....I dont know if the amp is blown or if its a wiring problem thats why i broke down exactly how its wired.....the power wire (which ive been running fine for 2 years only have had problems with the new alpine deck) is 4 gauge to a distribution block down to 8 guage the grounds are 8 guage to a screw on the back wall of the car.

Disconnect the speakers from the amp and power it up. If the fuses blow again you have an amp problem.
