Hook up Headphones to a car stereo???

Hi Everyone , Long story, but is it possible to hook up headphones to my car stereo. Not looking to do it through an MP3, Ipod, etc. Just basically I want to have headphones without using speakers. I have an aftermarket head unit in there already, not the stock one. It's one of the high output ones so I don't even want to run an amp.... Just sort of like you'd listen to headphones on your home stereo without the speakers...... Thank You Bill

Unless the HU in question has a dedicated output you cannot use headphones. I'm pretty sure driving and listening to headphones is illegal anyway.

Why would you want to wear headphones while driving? It's very dangerous........I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I'm sure we were all talking about it being illegal when you are the one using the headphones while the vehicle is in motion.. not your girl friend in the passenger seat. A little information goes a long way.

btw, the headphones have speakers that are probably only a max of 1 watt or less. Stereos usually push about 50 watts normal to your speakers. If you hooked them up to ur head unit you could damage ur headset and also more importantly your hearing. You might get away with having ur volume to level 1...maybe.

Had you said that with out the attitude I would have shared how it's done, but now the camaroz28 cops thinks not. Being only a kid (hahaha), that has worked with electronics for enough time to answer your question, I could help, but I don't think you want the answer that bad (me being a kid and all). Have a nice day bill.
