HELP upgrade stock system.

HELLO,

I need some help guys. I have a 1994 Trans am, and it only has a stock 4 speaker system. Right now I only have enough loot to change the speakers. Can someone explain to me the difference in 2 ohms and 4 ohms?. I know I have 2 ohms.....how i do i make this bad boy 4 ohms?????? will changing the speakers alone do it? and what speakers are good and a little economical. Im on a budget..please help. My stock system sucks!..HAHA

Thanks In advance.

Ohms is a measure of resistance. If you have a 2 ohm system and try to use 4 ohm speakers, the 4 ohm speakers have more resistance, so they won't be as loud. However, if you have a 4 ohm system and replace the speakers with 2 ohm versions, it will be louder, but it could damage the amp if the amp isn't 2 ohm stable. If the amp isn't 2 ohm stable and you use 2 ohm speakers, the amp will overheat and shutdown and/or become damaged.
