Help Me with Deciding Component Speaker Purchase
Looking to purchase some speakers online. My price range is 100 to the door. Im thinking either MB Quarts Discus line (DSC 216). or Infinity reference (6000cs). Im going to mount the tweeter in the door in front of the handle. The MB tweeter is .5" (Titanium?) and the Infinity is .75(Silk). Can someone help me decide what to get? Im open to other comparable brands.
Thanks

I can't recommend the Infinitys. I had the Rally Series and got rid of them. I had them high passed at 80Hz @ 18dB/octave and they still distorted badly at high volume levels. I switched them out for a set of Boston Acoustics Rally Comps and no longer have the distortion problem. And thats with everything set the same way as they were for the Infinitys. While the Infinity tweets sound very good their midbass drivers leave a LOT to be desired IMO.
Be sure to listen to a set of Quarts before you actually buy them. Quarts, to my ears, have VERY harsh sounding tweets.

I don't know what you are going to get in the $100 price range.
I paid about $240+ for my Boston Acoustic RC620 components and have been very happy. I got my rear fill JBL GTO625 speakers much cheaper and they do a great job with rear fill but I wouldn't put them up front.
I think you should set your budget a little higher for your front stage speakers, even if it means waiting a month or so longer to save the money.
The CDT Classic Series CL-61 is probably the best deal you can get. Go here! Scroll down to the bottom and look at the CL-61a. The only difference in the CL-61 and the CL-61a is that the CL-61a's paint is not as bright as the CL-61. This is simply a cosmetic blemish and does not effect the sound in any way. Besides, who is going to see your speakers? For $149, it is an awesome deal. These CDTs are rated to handle 90 Watts RMS, so your amp would be perfect for them.

Do not spend the $100. Save up around $250-$300 for components and the choices in brands/quality goes up significantly! Lower line Focals aren't that expensive too. I used to have the DSC MB's a while ago, 6.5", and they were horrible. I now run DSD's in one of my cars, which are noticably better.
I decided to go with the CDT CL-61a. I checked them out over at car audio forums and everyone said they were great. I also ordered a pioneer head unit deh-p5500mp. The total came to 324 with free shipping. I was going to order most of the my car audio off of ebay but after you calculate in shipping its that same price. Oh i ordered from thezeb.com they also had a great review from the car audio board. Thanks for the responses.

zslates definitely let us know how it turns out. I've been eyeing those cdt's for a couple months now. I can't decide what components do go with its between the cdt's,infinity kappa, alpine type-r, and the lower line of focals. Thats a great price for those cdt's im thinking of just getting them without hearing them first.
