Budget?

Slot ports are the way to go for SLP machines. If you REALLY want an SLP machine, take out the back seats and put a few more subs in there :P

Re: Help me build...

For the hardest hitting bass possible and high SPL's (not SLP) go with a properly designed and built bandpass enclosure. The down side of this type of enclosure is that they tend to be large and, by design, they mask distortion. This means it's possible to blow your speakers without any warning sign that you're pushing them too hard.

If a BP enclosure is out of the question then a properly designed and built ported enclosure is the way to go.

Re: Help me build...

www.adireaudio.com will lead u to authorized vendors.

Personally I don't like Bandpass boxes unless they are of the folded-horn style and those have to be built perfectly.

I'd personally suggest just a custom ported enclosure built properly to the subs specifications, with a properly sized amp. With those subs in a large enclosure you don't need near the max rated power to get them to xmax.

I agree. BP boxes tend to be one note boom boxes IMO. But since he wants a "top of the line SPL machine" BP is the way to go if space for the enclosure isn't a factor. Personally I feel that sealed boxes are the way to go.

Re: Help me build...

I agree, for car audio I almost always use Sealed enclosures. I'm running 2 10" Brahma's in 1cF enclosures and they are insane for SQL.

For home audio I run exclusively folded-horn subs though; when done right they work great for theater setups.

Personally if I were to build an SPL monster like I used to; I'd go with a large multi-driver folded horn; it wouldn't produce music much, but it would be damn loud.

Re: Help me build...

Can someone hook me up with the avg price list for the Adire Subs? I'm overseas and when i call most places they keep me on hold forever and it gets pretty expensive for a 10 min call to egt 30 secs of info. thanks!

Re: Help me build...

The Brahma's run typically $375-$450 shipped depending on the size; at least that was the last prices I saw.

FYI, these drivers are massive; my 10" Brahma's weigh in at almost 40# each.
