I have a 94 Camaro, with the U82 speakers. There are no speakers behind the seats, only the doors and drivers rear sub. Here is the problem. I never had to buy the convertor box that my friend did for his 95 with Bose premium sound. I had best buy install a JVC stereo for me years ago. Since then, I had removed that deck, put in a Sony and it worked fine. Swapped that for a different sony, and it worked fine. That deck was stolen, and they took the harness that clips to the factory setup. I bought a new harness connector but CANNOT get sound to come through the front speakers. The rear works fine. I have had the front speakers replaced with aftermarket ones for years, with no trouble. Friends have told me I need to run new wires to them. Why now, but not before? What has changed? The guy that wired the deck originally doesn't work at BBY anymore, so I can't check with him. The new guys there are no help. Circuit is no help. Does ANYONE know how to wire it up to get the sound to come out of the front speakers?

Note: Sound comes out, but it is so low, you can barely hear it with the volume all the way up, on just the fronts. I have confirmed that there is power going to the door amp, the ground is good, etc.

ANYONE? I hate to pay best buy $50 to wire up the doors, if not needed. Thanks!

EDIT: Holy crap I think I found it. One of Brents old posts say you need to hook up the power antenna wire to switched 12V. If thats it Im gonna crap, cause I did everything BUT that!

Ok, so apparently that wasn't it. I had the antenna wire on the car, (pink) connected to the ant. remote wire (blue) on the sony harness. Disconnect it and the rear speaker doesn't work. Connect it and all is good, but the fronts still have no sound. Any ideas? I'm dying here guys. I hate to pay best buy for something that does NOT need to be done.

That bit of info was for when hooking up an aftermarket deck and that being the ONLY thing being changed. If the amps don't get power you'll have no sound. You connect the acc power and the antenna wire together on your adapter harness (the $5 jobbie from Wal-Mart) and this will power the amps whenever the head unit is on.

This should not be an issue for you though because you said you have aftermarket speakers in the front... those just come directly up to the head unit.

Are you sure that they didn't run "extra" wires and they are hiding back there somewhere? What I mean is that if you just hooked up the adapter plug, the front speakers could be going to "nothing" because they aren't wired up to the factory wiring... maybe the installers ran separate wiring and you just aren't seeing it?

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

First, there IS sound, but with the balance all the way to the right, and the fade all the way to the front, with the volume ALL THE WAY up, you can hear just a bit of the sound. Its almost as if the amps in the door aren't working. I tested the wiring going to the amps, and they are getting power. Oh well. Time to rewire the doors.

I'm confused. If you have aftermarket front speakers then you should NOT be using the little amps. What exactly do you have wired up and not wired up down there???
