Which head unit?

Well my Pioneer DEH- somthing has done me well for about a year or so but a few weeks ago it started acting up really bad. I was told that the arm inside was heating up and thats why it started screwing up which sounded about right. Anyway, I have finally tired of it and am in the market for a new unit. I don't need one with a huge screen, tons of colors or anyting like that. I just want something for a decent price with a cd player that will look good in the car. Are there any other brands besides Pioneer that make one to fit in the factory place with minimal fabricating? Anyone got any suggestions? I would like to get out with maybe $200 or less if that helps any.

When you say "fits in the factory place" do you mean the full 1.5din? If so.... I don't think you can get a new one for $200... maybe a used one.... maybe. If you meant just a regular single din sized CD player, I recommend the Alpine 7892. You can get one on-line for about $240. I would find it VERY hard to find a better head unit in that price range.

I just had an Alpine 7874 installed and I'm VERY happy with it. It has a lot of features that many others do not in the $199 price range.

Get the 7892. The key is the "Bass Engine Plus" feature. That is the cheapest one that has that feature. If the 7874 is $199, I would pay atleast $300 to step up to the 7892. This will give you 4-channel time correction, along with many other options.
