is this a good set up?

i just want a little bit of bass and i can get this set up from someone for only $80 with a box.

Alpine MRP-M350 amp

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-agtLUYz...p?i=500MRPM350

and a pioneer Premier TS-W105DVC sub

http://www.cartoys.com/cartoys/showd...tion=storepref

also can i run it on 2 ohm? because the amp pushes 350 watts rms at 2 ohms.

Re: is this a good set up?

That sub only comes with dual 2ohm or dual 8 ohms voice coils. If you'll only be using one of them you cannot wire either for 2ohms. The dual 2ohm can only be run at 1ohm or 4ohms. The dual 8ohm model can only be wired for 4ohms or 16ohms. What you need is a sub with dual 4ohm voice coils ran in parallel for a 2ohm load.

That will do just fine in your camaro.
I know the alpine will produce clean rated power, and I think that is a pretty goodsub...not sure on the sub though.
I would definitely try to get a stealthbox when you can.

Re: is this a good set up?

i had the same amp in my camaro and it wasn't that good of an amp. it overheated even though i had it placed up top in the trunk space with tons of free air. i only had one sub too. the sub looks pretty good but dont buy the amp!! its not worth the money.

Re: is this a good set up?

the alpine M350 was my first amp and its not bad for a 1st timer because your not pushing it hard cause your ears aren't used to the loud sub. but as time goes on, your ears get adjusted and your gonna want to play it louder. after a couple months, i was pushing that amp w/ my 10" kicker compvr @ 2ohms and it started to overheat and shut down. it was really bad in the summer time. i could listen to it for maybe 20-30 mins and it cut off.

Re: is this a good set up?

How did you set the amp's gain and what was your HU's voltage output? Most people think the gain is a volume control and just crank it to it's max. If that's the case here it's no wonder the amp would shut down.

Re: is this a good set up?

i just looked at the amp and the gain was turned up all the way. but if any of you guys want the amp, i'll sell it for $100 or best offer. it is a pretty decent amp, i'm just a kicker/fosgate guy now.
