Question Getting a Solobaric L7... what ohm model?

I'm going to be running a 600Wx1 bridged, 2 channel amp.

Never dealt with a DVC sub before... Should I be getting a 2ohm, 4ohm, or...?

Thanks

What impedance can your amp run at when bridged? 2 ohms? 4 ohms?

I remembered stumbling across these pictures years ago, so I'll just answer your question either way...

If your amp can handle a 1 Ohm bridged load, get a 2 Ohm DVC sub and wire as follows:

If your amp can handle a 4 Ohm bridged load, get a 2 Ohm DVC and wire as follows:

If your amp can handle a 2 Ohm bridged load, get a 4 ohm DVC and wire as follows:

And finally, there is the option for an 8 Ohm load using a 4 ohm DVC driver:

I don't know what it's stable to, but I do know that I used to run it at 4 ohms.

It'll make more power at a lower ohm load, but may not be stable there. Research, find out what it'll run stable at, and choose accordingly.

What is the make/model of the amp?

JL Audio > Kicker.

That's all I have to contribute here. The other guys are right, though -- find out your amp's minimum stable impedance and use that.

If you like sound quality more than SPL, consider using something higher than the minimum.

most likely its only 4 ohm stable bridged, so get the D2 and wire in series for a 4 ohm load

I'm shooting for just a 4 ohm load again, because I know it was stable and performed well.

It's a USAcoustics 2200F. The amp itself is probably 5 years old actually.

Yet JL doesn't have a single item that will suit my application for space requirements and power handling.

Thanks, dual 2 ohm then?

US Acoustics doesn't have the specs for the USA2200F on their website. However, the other amps in the USA series appear to be stable to 4 ohms bridged mono.
Go with dual 2 ohm.

Have fun!

I have that same amp. Still going after 10 years. In 2ch mode it is 2ohm stable, but bridged it needs to see 4ohms. So D2 all the way.

Heck yeah I love this amp. Still kicking after all these years is right... and come to think of it, mine is probably about the same age as yours. I first had it in my K5 Blazer when I was 19 years old I think... Which would make it 9 years old. It's worked hard pushing a variety of subs over the years.

BTW, I'm getting the box for this L7 from you. It's going to be for my Colorado Crew Cab... the down firing version.

I'll have to check to make sure the 10L7 will fit the col. d/f box. Probably will though. I think I got my amp in 1997ish. I had it in my camaro for awhile until I needed more power. It's in my truck now pushing four eD eu700s.

I'm actually going ahead and just doing the 8... unless the 10 does fit...
