getting new speakers

Ive got http://www.kenwoodusa.com/products/L...k3=172&pr=2364

a kenwood deck right now with no amp (that I know of)/sub with stock speakers

I have 50wx4 output right now.. and I'm wondering what kind of speakers i should get

does anyone know the speaker sizes for all 3 sets by any chance?

its

6.75 inch speakers in the door

6.5 inch speakers in the sail panel

4 inch speakers in the rear hatch

right?

should I get 3 channel? 4 channel?
or should I get 2 channel?

im going to assume the stock speakers are 2 channel..?

and oh yea, the deck that was originally in my car was a monsoon deck and it had a cd changer, which i took out a while ago when i replaced the head unit.

edit: so.. right now Im thinking about just not touching the 4" speakers in the hatch and just replacing the front 4.

IDK if my HU was wried to the factory amp or not and if my speakers are still connected to it.

is it still going to sound good without an amp if I have that deck and get some new speakers, and.. are the hatch speakers going to sound like doo-doo and interfere with how the rest of my stuff sounds?

Yea 6.5" or 6.75" in doors/rear ignore the 4" hatch...

It sounds like you have the concept of channels messed up....you thinking about amping the speakers or something? There are many ways, but it is desirable to have one channel per speaker, and another for the sub if you choose to have one. What do you have now?? Stock? They are amped then by the 8 or 10 channel amp you have (depending whether it's a Camaro or Firebird)....

You will want to run the fronts off of deck power or an aftermarket amp, and the rear sails off of deck power as well - unless you put some midbass subs in there like there are now (if you don't want a sub later), they stick with the Monsoon amp.

everything but the head unit is stock, all I want to get is speakers

not messing with a sub and amp

and.. I dont know if I even have a monsoon amp, but I'm going to assume it was under the tire jack or something.

so.. 2 channel speakers it is!

Yea it's back on the side. 2 channels speakers? You aren't using that information to find an amp or anything are you? You can have XX speaker channels but NOT XX channel speakers. Typically refer to those as terminals if I understand you correctly...

The front speakers are components so there are 4 wires there, the rear sails have 2 or 4 wires....depending on if you have a Camaro or Firebird, and the hatch speakers have 2 or 4 wires as well.........again depending if you have a Camaro or Firebird.

I have a camaro, the hatch speakers have a red and a black wire, so thats a 2 channel speaker right?

does that mean its uniform all around?

and.. is the fact that I'm going to have nicer speakers in the front and back seat going to sound strange with the crappy high frequency speakers in my hatch? or will that not really matter.

I'm a sq ***** and I'd hate to miss the high tones because the other speakers drown it out.

I dont listen to rap that much, so I'm not looking for ground thumping bass, I'm looking for an all around sound boost.

Front speakers still have four TERMINALS

No leave tha hatch or unplug them....

What are you doing with the read sails?? Full range or keep them lower freqs? EU700s sound like your best bet there, or any decent 6.5" midbass/sub.

honestly, I dont know, I was just going to buy 4 kenwood excelon speakers that had the same cone material.

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12185

and

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=12185

and i was thinking about getting

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=15054

(if those even fit) but from what I can understand getting those hatch speakers wouldn't be worth it

I listen to alot of metal and a little bit of rap, not really sure what I need, but my logic is that anything is bound to sound nicer than the stock speakers, no?

if it makes a big difference I think I'm just going to head over to the car audio shop by my house and see what they have to say.

edit: after looking at the specs, those 4x6 speakers wont pick up any range the other 2 pairs cover.. looks like midrange not high end.. would it sound weird if i just unplugged them? or would the other set cover the highs mids and lows?

rear hatch is supposed to be more midrange stock - but who knows......just forget those hatch speakers entirely -- ESPECIALLY since it seems like you want full range speakers all around.......you're gonna lose a lot of bass putting those in the sails though.....I would suggest replacing the woofers with other woofers, unless you plan on adding a sub later.... also - if you plan on putting those in the rear sails - u CANNOT have the hatch as well, because you will need to hatch wires to power new full range speakers in the sails since the sails do not receive a full signal from the Monsoon amp (plus, there is 65-75wRMS there that might damage new speakers).

thanks for all the info though =]
amperage has hardly anything to do with this -- it is not difficult, and you will spend three times the amount at LEAST if you purchase from/let a shop do the install. Rearrange the letters in amperage and you'll be getting rapeage.....without the m.

alright, I'm down if you can help me out

I just popped off all my speaker covers and looked at the attatchments and this should be cake if I can get everything planned out right, good call

I just need to know what I need to do about my amp and if theres an easy way to find out if my head unit is wired to it or not.

I just dont want to blow out new speakers because i ****ed something up, then be in the hole way more than i would have if i just had someone install it.
