Garmin GPS Hardwire

Anybody know how I would go about hard wiring a GPS (specifically a Garmin Nuvi 260) into a 94 F-Body?

I only have one 12V power outlet, and thats kinda reserved for my radar detector. I know I could get the double cigarette lighter, but those are so bulky....

Ideally, I'd like to put it near the drivers side A pillar. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sorry if this has been asked before....I searched around and didn't find anything on this.

Thanks!
CL

I believe the wiring harness for the rear view mirror lights runs under the driver side A-pillar. You can splice into that. It's 12v hot at all times, so you need to make sure you can turn off the GPS. That's what I spliced into for my radar detector.

Sure you could do that, but hard wiring it is the easiest way to hide it. I mounted my radar detector up above my rear view mirror, and didn't want the adapter hanging down, so I hardwired it into my mirror wires. You can wire it to any 12v source and a ground.

you can hardwire it yourself very easily. Take the Cig lighter power cord from the gps. Unscrew the top and attach a piece of wire to the nipple on the end of the cig lighter. The outer metal pieces on the end of the cid lighter are your ground. hook a piece of wire up to one of them and tape off MAKE SURE THE NIPPLE AND THE GROUNDS ARE NOT TOUCHING... find a 12v SWITCHED power source and a good ground. hide wires and your done

any ?'s just PM me
