Front component question

I'm looking at a component set something like this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=1&cc=01&avf=Y

My question is, is there a good place to mount the tweeter in the door panel? Is there a stock tweeter there or is that bulge in the door panel just for looks? It's a 10 speaker system on a 95 formula.

Does the stock tweeter location face 'sideways' or point towards the driver/passenger?

The best sounding place for those tweets or the speakers even is on the floor in pods. Q-form makes em and they look great and sound even better.

Actually, I'm gonna have to disagree. My buddy has them and they are nothing like a custom set of kickpanels. They look and feel flimsy and cheap. And they sound the same.

SShevy is a mod over at www.ls1.com . He makes some custom tweeter pods that look damn near stock.

$75/pair and they are well worth it. Great quality.

I won't argue with that. Nothing is going to sound as good as custom kick panels when they are done right....but....custom work is high $$ and those pods I mentioned are not a bad alternative and certainly better sounding than sticking 4s in the cener console

just my .02

mm, those look nice firebird dude.

However. I did it today anyways, the alpine type r component set fit perfectly, I popped out the little tweeter grill and stuck in the alpines, no problems at all. Had to cut the back out of the plastic thing that mounts the 6-3/4 speaker but other than that, everything fit well.

Of course, I finally managed to get the door panel back on and realized I forgot to pull the wires for the power windows through.....not once, but twice I forgot

Thanks for the replies!

Not much!

I have new speakers all around now, with 2 stealth boxes housing 10"'s and the alpine 7894 mp3 player. i'm happy :>

The thing is, the front stock speakers were clipping at high volumes and therefore wasn't really hearing the potential of the system.

Now, it's clear at about 30 volume (35 is the max). Before, 22-24 was the peak. Mission accomplished!
