Foglights not working.. simple question
Foglights not working.. simple question
ok ive got some crazy foglight issues. originally just the pass. side would go out once in awhile but sometimes both would go out. since the factory wiring i knew was just spliced off of the one wire anyway i got rid of it and spliced it in myself just before the driver side foglight. k one eyed light problem solved. now both are out and i just checked everything with a multimeter. well ive got no power at the lights themselves.. (duh the lights arent workin lol) then i checked the fuse.. fuse was fine but no power passing through it. great onto the next step.. relay.. i had power at the relay but non at the fuse?! does this mean my mysterious problem is from the relay to the fuse? or is it possibly in the switch? (not sure how its wired)
my main question is what order does this go? switch>relay>fuse>lights. or relay>switch>fuse>lights ??? really need to know asap
(my lights suck without the fogs working lol)
also ive looked at the wiring schematic on shoeboxs site and it makes no sense to me. well it does but i cant tell if the relay or fuse is in line from the switch first..

Re: Foglights not working.. simple question
ok re-checked everything (was checkin em wrong..) anyway i have power at the fuse.. and ive got one constant power at the relay (guess its what lets the lights come on when the parking lights are on instead of anytime) but the power i guess coming from the switch is really low, was registering just a cpl of volts at best is that normal? (switch off it had no power and fog switch on it had 1-2 volts) im just more confused now, unless its simply the switch isnt sending enough power to the relay. i didnt feel like tearing the dash apart tonight to check the switch, im gonna do that tomorrow. if it turns out to be the switch the factory one is gone cause thatll be the third one.
checked the switch just for the heck of it, its good adn its getting power when the headlight switch is on park lights... ive got power everywhere EXCEPT the foglights =/

Re: Foglights not working.. simple question
in case anyone else has had this problem.. i was in the middle of running a new wire from the switch to the fog lights.. and they magically came back on, whatever it is is a bad link between switch and relay, because the relay is reading a full 12 volts now where it was reading barely 2 volts. im gonna try to track it down this weekend but for now they work *shrug*
