first time car owner w/ questions...
howdy people, i just bought myself an 84' camaro in awesome condition (the only problem is a little ding on the side, not too bad, interior and engine are awesome). anyway, i love the car, but you can really tell that it has a 20 year old stereo. what would yall recommend for a new system. i dont want to go absolutely ape**** with it, but i would like a set up that can thump if need be, savy?
right this moment, not a damn thing. but im *supposed* to get a job working for a friend of the family in his shop around the 1st. i guess it pays around 10 an hour (step up from 6.75 for washing dishes all day, eh?) so soon i should have a little spending money. (i save up fast, too.)
oh, and might anybody know off-hand how much a first-time driver might end up paying for insurance on a camaro? <----sorry if that last question was in the wrong topic but it doesnt hurt to ask, right?
also, any suggestions on the exterior? (as im sure you can tell by now, im not all too car savy) the plain red paint job works, but id like something nicer. (probably gonna come later, i hear paint is rightously exspensive...)

isurance wont be too much and its 84. i think when i had my 1989 camaro a couple years ago it was like 115.00 and i was 17 then. do you just want a head unit and new speakers or do you want to o it right and get head unit amp and some components?
$115?!?! A month? That's a hell of a lot for an 89' regardless of age. I pay $890/6 months for my 96' and I have 2 accidents. Anyway.... I assume you probably want the cheapest but still quality gear. If you're doing all the install yourself and buy over the net, you figure...:
Headunit:$150min. $250 would be nice
Front stage:$90min. $140 would be nice
Subwoofer(s):$160min for a pair of 12"s, but the sky's the limit
Amp(s): depends on the sub, box, etc...
Box: build it yourself for like $40
Wiring:no more then $65
You should figure atleast $1k for the entire thing....

believe it or not once i got rid of the 89 and got a 94 mustang gt it went down considerably and then with my 94 camaro z28 it stayed about the same. it seemed as my cars got newer the price went down. i have no idea why though.
