Angry Factory Stereo stopped working today

Yeah, it was working fine. Then when I got back in the car and turned it on there was this continuous buzz in the system. Later on, I put a CD in and you could barely hear the music at MAX volume. Anyone have any idea what the **** happened? Thanks.

U1T Radio, AM/FM Stereo, Seek/Scan, Compact Disc, HPS, Clock, ETR

U65 Speaker system 5, Dual Front Door Mtd, Dual Ext. Range Panel, Single Rear Compartment

'95 Z28, btw.

Should I take it to the dealer or somewhere else?

Mine did the same thing last year. I have the factory Delco/Bose cd player. It turned out the factory amp took a dump. The symptoms were exactly like yours, the radio still had power and you could just barely hear it when the volume was at max. I had a local stereo shop install a P.A.C interface and threw in an used Alpine 4 channel amp and it fired right up, hope this helps

Cool. How much did that cost? Or would it be cheaper taking it to a dealer. Whatever is cheaper. Haha.

unless you just TALKING to the dealer.....the dealer is never cheaper!!

you have a few options you could
-get a aftermarket deck and get it installed bybassing your external amp...going stait to the factory speakers.
-you can interface in a aftermarket amp ( i have no idea how to do that)
-or buy used factory amp (and hope lastze4me is right)
-or leave it and bore yourself singing or humming to yourself while your stuck in traffic
