Enclosure Dimensions
Enclosure Dimensions
Hey folks,
I just bought two 10" subs from a buddy of mine and my upcoming winter project will be to build a custom box for my 95 camaro. Does anyone have dimensions for such a box. I know I can go ahead and create the cardboard cuts out and all that fun stuff to get the measurements but I figured I'd 'cheat' a bit first and ask here.
Also, would it be possible to mount an amp on top of the box between the 2 speakers or would I be affecting the integrity/quality of the box?
I'm a newbie to this stuff so please forgive my ignorance. Thanks folks.

I assume you are trying to replicate a subthump box?
You could mount the amp there -- but it wont fit. If you mount on the box somehow try not to let the screws penetrate into the interior of the box.
As far as dimensions........you aren't going to get an answer. Even if someone did have all of the dimensions -- following them exactly is hard to do. Just take some measurements, and start with a larger piece than needed, then begin to shape and trim it until it fits the way you want it to. I wouldn't mock it up with cardboard first -- just a waste of time for most things - plus if you get the cardboard the exact size you want it, then try cutting the MDF to that size -- your cut may not be perfect, and you may end up trimming smaller than you intended..
Obviously, regardless of what you do -- aim for a specific volume the sub manufacturer recommends and give each box it's own sealed chamber. Slightly bigger or smaller is alright - can always play around with stuffing fiberglass (to make box seem slightly larger) or adding more bracing (to cut back on some vol....strengthens box anyway, but adds weight..).
Good luck.
