Dynamat Installation Question

Hi all,

My B4C has a 6 point roll bar that was installed at the start of police service- almost 10 years ago. I recently gutted the interior to repair some rust pockets at the base of 2 of the roll bar points.

Getting ready to re-install the interior and I am gonna Dynamat the crap out of it.

The question is: On the door panels, do I just discard the vapor barrier and cover the entire inside panel with the Dynamat?

Thanks for all the help.

On the plastic door panels or the door itself? Here is a link on my car and you can see how I did it. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...55&uid=1612587

Wow! Great pictures and exactly what I was looking for! From the pics, you did NOT put the vapor barrier back on, correct?

Re: Dynamat Installation Question

I've never put it back on with any car I've dynamated.

And I know this is off topic but stay away from that stuff. Use Brown Bread or B-quiet. Same thing for a lot less $$.

Ain't that the truth! I am actually using Peel N Seal. $60 for a 35 foot roll.

I wouldn't use Peel and Seal, it's made to go on roofs and not in cars. You'll have to put on 2-3 layers of Peel and Seal to get the same result as on layer of Dynamat, Second Skin, Brown Bread etc. You can get liquid deadeners for around $40 a gallon, and one gallon will do around 50sqft.

Andy,

Did you ever get your car done with that peel and seal stuff?

How did it turn out?

I stopped by the local lowes, they had 6" x 25' roles or so.. not the bigger stuff.. Where did you get yours..

The Camaro comes out of the paint shop today and the interior is already stripped so I will be starting on it shortly.

I have been "practicing" on a LT1 Caprice I have and have not had any problems. Doors, floor pan and trunk done. It has Dynomax Super Turbos, factory duals with no resonators and I *cannot* hear the exhaust except at WOT.
One big plus, think of the cost of Dynomat or Fatmat when doing a car this big. It would be quite substantial.

I bought the stuff at a roofing supply place -- one that contractors/wholesalers use. I called several places until I found it in stock.

Hope this helps
