I have a 1995 Z28 vert. I was wondering the mounting depth for the door speakers. I want to install a set of Audiobahn 6.5" midbass but the magnet is massive and the mounting depth needed is 3.5". I'm not sure whether our cars will take that or not.

pretty much anything will fit. You'll just have to trim the plastic behind the speaker. That's what I had to do with my Focal speakers

Now I am thinking of having a custom enclosure with 8" subs in the doors. Might just sound that much better.

yup, you can put an 8 in there, just need some mods done. You may want to have a 3 way setup with the mids and tweets in kick panels and then the 8 in the door. tuned well, it should sound really well
