Does anyone else's Rockford Fsgte deck do horrible with less than perfect CDs?

Does anyone else's Rockford Fsgte deck do horrible with less than perfect CDs?
Its almost to the point that I'm ripping this sucker out. If any CD has some typical scratches I get major popping and chunks of songs missing.
I have the 9200 I believe (about 3 years old)....I'm seriously considering going back to a stock deck.
just venting grrr.
Edit: actually I think its the 9300 I have...
