Ive read a little about the available monsoon system in ls1's. I have a 98 z28, It has a cd player, but I was wondering if it had the monsoon system .How do i tell the difference?

 

You probably do. It should say monsoon on the lens where it shows the time.

 

one is really ****ty, the other one is even more crappy. that is how you pretty much tell. if it just sounds like crap then you have the monsoon. if it sounds like really really crappy, you have the non-monsoon.

btw i dislike the stock stereo if you couldn't tell

 

yes, it should say monsoon next to the clock display. also, check in front of the spare tire, there should be an amplifier there if you have the monsoon system.

i agree with ^^^^^^^^, the monsoon system is crap. i gutted the whole system and started from scratch.

 

I'm pretty sure the Monsoon system was an option in '98. Standard in 99+ LS1 fbody cars

 

My Camaro's factory bose sytem sounded way better then my monsoon streo .Actualy it was a bose amp and sub w/a non-factory stereo . Sounded beyond good . Although the monsoon is a high dollar desighn stereo used in high dollar vehicles .

 

the bose one that comes in the lt1's is far better than the monsoon. the monsoon is a pos. it was the first thing i did. i like loud clear music, and the monsoon could not even go loud, never mind clear. but yea the bose my friend had in his 95 was one of the better stock gm stereos ive heard. it was ok.

My Monsoon dont sound bad , it gets pretty loud . But the Bose had better bass
